Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged any extra fees for this service?
No extra fees will be charged to your account for using this service.  The only amount debited from your bank account will be the actual price of the monthly ticket.

When will my bank account be debited?
Your bank account will be debited the first business day of the ticket month.  Example:  You will receive your November monthly ticket at the end of October, but your bank account will not be debited until the first work day of November.

What happens if I do not have enough funds in my bank account to cover the payment?
If we are unable to debit your bank account due to non-sufficient funds, account closed, or other problems at the stated financial institution, you will be assessed a $25 fee in addition to any penalties charged to NICTD by our banking institution.  You will also be suspended from Ticket By Mail until full payment is made.

What do I need to do if I want to suspend my Ticket By Mail service for a month or two?
Please contact NICTD, either by phone, mail, or e-mail, and we will suspend your service for the months you request.  NICTD must be notified at least ten (10) working days before the end of the prior month.

What happens if I notify NICTD too late about canceling service for a specific month?
If Tickets have already been mailed, your account will be debited on the first of the month.  You will need to send in your ticket for a refund.

What if I change Banks or Bank Account numbers?
Notify NICTD about the change as soon as possible.

How do I know if NICTD received my “Authorization Agreement for Preauthorized Payments” form in time, or if I need to send NICTD a check for payment?
The Ticket by Mail invoice will state, “Amount will be debited from your checking account” if you are set up for the direct debit service.  Otherwise, the invoice will state “Don’t forget to write your account number on your check.” 

I usually send in a transit check along with a personal check for my Ticket by Mail payment.  Can I still sign up for direct debit?
No.  NICTD can only debit for the full price of a ticket.
