Chicago Transit Authority

  "Chicago is one of the few cities in the world that provides rapid transit service to two major airports. From the downtown area the CTA's Blue Line takes customers to O'Hare International Airport in about 40 minutes and the Orange Line takes customers to Midway Airport in about 30 minutes.

  The CTA operates the nation's second largest public transportation system and covers the City of Chicago and 38 surrounding suburbs. On an average weekday, 1.5 million rides are taken on the CTA."

Hammond Transit System

  "The Hammond Transit System has six convenient bus routes that provide service throughout Hammond, Whiting, and Robertsdale.  Limited service is provided to Munster, Highland, and the east side of Chicago.  In addition, Downtown Chicago and its south suburban communities, East Chicago, Gary, Griffith, and Highland are all reachable via transfer connections with PACE, CTA, or GPTC."

Metra

  "There are a lot of interesting, educational and just plain fun things to do in Northeast Illinois and Metra can get you where you want to go.  The 495-mile Metra system serves 230 stations in the counties of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, McHenry and Kane.

   On Metra you can reach Chicago's beautiful lakefront, museums, zoos, sporting events, shops and restaurants, concerts, special events, schools and colleges as well as quaint, historic suburbs and small towns."

Pace Bus

  "Pace, the suburban bus division of the Regional Transportation Authority, provides fixed bus routes, Dial-a-Ride services, vanpools and special-event buses throughout Chicago's six-county suburban region.  The agency is the 14th largest bus service in the United States and Canada."

South Bend Regional Airport

  "South Bend Regional Airport is the only airport in the United States to have developed a multi-modal transportation center offering air, intercity rail and interstate bus service all at one convenient location.  At South Bend Regional, passengers have the option of traveling on any one of the ten major airlines that offer connections to destinations around the world through nine hub cities: Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, St. Louis, Pittsburgh."

  South Shore Line to VAN BUREN STREET station - Walk 3 blocks west along Van Buren St. to Dearborn St.  Walk north on Dearborn St. across Jacks St. and look for entrance to CTA JACKSON subway.  Go downstairs to subway. Follow overhead signs that say O'Hare. Take any train marked O'Hare. Ride to O'HARE station (end of line), about 45 minutes.
  Return: In airport terminals, follow overhead signs "Trains to City". In CTA station, follow flashing yellow light to train. Get off at JACKSON.  This CTA trip is wheelchair accessible.

CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT

  South Shore Line to RANDOLPH STREET station - Straight ahead from top of stairs leaving stat ion, walk 1 block west along Randolph Street to WABASH Avenue, then up into CTA station. Follow orange signs that say Midway. Take any train marked with orange signs Midway. Ride to MIDWAY station (end of line), about 30 minutes . Follow signs and take overhead passage to airport terminal (about one-quarter mile).
  Return: (Note: Last train from Midway is at 11:20 p.m.) Get off at RANDOLPH/WABASH.
  This CTA trip is not wheelchair accessible.
